Q. Is the BPA an independent federation?

A. Yes.

Q. Can I compete with another federation?

A. Yes, we welcome athletes from all federations / organisations.

Q. What is the cost of a membership?

A. £50 per annum.

Q. When does membership run from and to?

A. Memberships are seasonal and are valid from 1st January - 31st December.

Q. What is the cost of a class registration for each show?

A. £50.

Q. Can you enter more than one category?

A. Yes, you can enter one additional category at cost of £50.

Q. Is the BPA affiliated to another federation?

A. No, we have no international links at the moment.

Q. How do I receive an invitation to the British Championships?

A. Invites to the BPA British Championships will be awarded on the day to the Top 3 of each category.

Q. Are Pro Cards Awarded?

A. This is something that we plan to offer in the future.

Q. If I represent the BPA internationally, would this be at my own expense or part / fully funded?

A. Affiliation is required first but it is our intention to support our athletes as much as possible in order to reach their maximum potential.

Q. What is the height and weight criteria for classic bodybuilding and classic physique categories?

Q. What is the criteria for a Rising Stars competitor?

A. An athlete that has never competed previously i.e. never stepped on stage.

Q. What is the criteria for a Novice competitor?

A. *NOVICE is an athlete who either has, never competed before, never won a Novice Class or never placed Top 3 in an Open Class that had a line up of 5 or more competitors, never won an Overall and never won a Pro Card irrespective of Federation/Organisation. In the interest of fairness to others, if an athlete has achieved any of these placings, then they are not considered Novice and will be disqualified).

Q. What weight categories are there in Men’s Bodybuilding?

A. Qualifiers - Under 80kg, Under 90kg & Over 90kg.

British Championships - Under 70kg, Under 80kg, Under 90kg, Under 100kg & Over 100kg.

Q. What are the age categories for Men’s Masters Bodybuilding?

A 40-49 yrs, 50-59 yrs & Over 60 yrs. 40-49 yrs, 50-59 yrs & Over 60 yrs..

Q. What is the age criteria for Ladies Master's Bikini & Ladies Master's Figure?

A. Bikini 35-39 yrs, Bikini 40-49 yrs, Bikini Over 50 yrs, Figure Over 35 yrs.

Q. What are the age criteria for Masters Men’s Physique?

A. 35-39 yrs, 40-49 yrs & Over 50 yrs.

Q. Can I apply my own tan?

A. Yes, you are welcome to do this, but please be aware, no instant tans that can be wiped off are allowed.

Q. Do you offer refunds if I am unable to attend a show?

A. No.

Q. How do I receive post show feedback?

A. Please email any of the judges of your category after the show.

Q. Can I register on the day?

A. No. You must pre-register on-line, this includes paying membership, registration and submitting music (if appropriate) prior to the day.

Q. How do I submit my music?

A. This should be submitted to each show promoter emails on website in MP3 format Music should be edited to the section of track required, a maximum one minute long, and the file should be named with the category, athletes name and ‘On stage’ or ‘Off stage’ to indicate when the music should start. Any music with profanities will not be played. Music is only required for Men’s Bodybuilding and Ladies Physique Categories. “I” walk music will be provided for other classes.

Q. Can I take someone backstage with me?

A. This is dependent upon venue facilities. Coach Passes will be available for purchase where circumstances allow. At the Rising Stars (Beginners) Show, athletes are allowed one person backstage. Please contact specific show promoter for any further enquiries.

Q. Where can I purchase spectator tickets?

A. Keep an eye on our events page for online tickets, and where applicable tickets can be purchased on the day.

Q. Will you be providing posing classes?

A. Yes this is something we will be offering in the future.

Q. What additional categories may I be eligible for?

All Master's may enter the age categories relevant to their age and relevant Open categories.

Ladies who feel they may be between classes can enter other categories, and will be judged to the criteria of the chosen categories. I.e. Bikini & Figure, Wellness & Figure.

Men may enter categories their weight allows and physique suits including Classic Physique and the Men’s Physique categories and will be judged to the criteria of the chosen categories.
